Who we are...

Cassius Cookie Company is a combination of good things coming out of a bad situation. 

I have always been a cook. I enjoy creating new recipes and experimenting with others. Serving a meal is one of my favorite things. The dessert to end a meal was never of much interest to me. Baking is chemistry and precise and requires a lot of measurement. That’s not what I enjoy. 

March of 2020 brought lots of changes. Being stuck inside and limited in what was available, I decided to experiment with baking. I like a challenge. The basics are always a good place to start. Brownies and chocolate chip cookies are safe bets. Most people enjoy one or the other. I began trying different recipes. Keeping what worked, altering ingredients, adding what seemed to be missing, my own recipes emerged. 

Baking batches of brownies and cookies while stuck in a house leads to eating lots of cookies and brownies. I needed to find someone else who would eat them!!! I’m a teacher and when school reopened, I discovered the perfect place to distribute what I was creating, co-workers!!!

I began expanding my offerings and bringing them to work. People began to ask about them and I baked more. One day my Assistant Principal said “You should really be selling these.” The seed was planted. 

Fast forward a bit and endorsed by encouraging family, I decided to give it a shot. A little legwork and a lot of paperwork saw the establishment of a company. The name was a debate. After lots of discussion, Cassius Cookies was named for our dog, a Brindle Boxer named Cassius. We had acquired him in April 2020 (the other good thing that came out of a bad situation).

I get inspired by recipes and people. Many of my cookies are named for people who inspired them or popped into my head as I was making them. Every batch is made by me. If I won’t serve it to my family, I won’t sell it. The packaging, artwork, and much needed support and encouragement are the work of family members who saw this through to completion with me.

Cassius Cookies is a labor of love and the fulfillment of a dream. I look forward to working with you.
